EDUCATE AFRICA INSTITUTE (EAI) TO SUE WAEC

The Educate Africa Institute (EAI) has taken notice of the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) press release dated Friday, 15th August, 2025, regarding the release of provisional results for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.

Key Demands:

1. Immediately release all withheld and cancelled results of candidates as stated in the provisional results report of 15th August, 2025.
2. Stop sacrificing candidates’ futures because of weaknesses in their own systems of supervision and monitoring.
3. Take full responsibility by sanctioning the invigilators, supervisors, and examination officials who failed in their duties.
4. Remark all the examination papers of the affected candidates to ensure fairness and transparency.
5. Provide the public with full and detailed reports on all examination malpractice investigations from inception to date, to demonstrate accountability.

EAI’s Position:

– WAEC’s continuous cancellation and withholding of results is a gross injustice and can not be tolerated any longer.
– If WAEC can not guarantee credible examinations, then it must be abolished and replaced with a more competent and transparent examination body.
– EAI stands ready to defend the rights of candidates and will not hesitate to join hands with affected families to pursue legal remedies.

Reaction From The Public

Most candidates affected are excited about the EAI petition and readiness to seek legal remedies with them. One candidate who’s results were withheld, said ” I am shocked my results were withheld. I did nothing wrong or did not engage in any form of examination malpractice for them to have s stsnd to hold back my results. The painful this is, after I had burnt the midnight candle almost every blessed day since I stepped foot into the final year class and having to join small group classes depriving me of some good rest, all I get is a withheld result and parents disappointment for being disloyal and unfaithful.

A parent divulge that, he was brought up his child in the fear of the Lord and knows that his child can’t do anything like cheating and all other allegations being levelled against them by WAEC. He pleaded with the examination body to please release the withheld results so as to ensure the future of the kids aren’t jeopardised.
